We just had the two games from the top flight of English football this afternoon with the first coming from Anfield where it was top of the table Liverpool hosting Wolves. Arne Slot’s side were coming into this tie after a last minute equalising goal from rivals Everton midweek, the bad news didn’t stop there as Curtis Jones was sent off as was manager Arne Slot, who got sent to the stands.
They arrived into this game with a four point lead at the top of the table as second place Arsenal won on Saturday, it took just 15 minutes for the homeside to take the lead Luis Diaz netting from the centre of the box after a fast break from Wolves half. In the 35th minute Diaz was in the thick of things winning a penalty for his side, Mohammed Salah stepped up and scored high into the centre of the goal to make it 2-0 going into the break.
The first bit of action didn’t happen till the hour mark when Liverpool were ruled out of a second penalty due to VAR. They made a double substitution bringing on Conor Bradley and Darwin Nunez on the 64th minute but just three minutes later the away side got their first goal when top scorer Matheus Cunha scored with his left foot to bring his tally to 12 goals for the season.
Vitor Pereira’s side pressed for a second goal to bring it level but the leaders held on for a 2-1 win and brought their lead at the top to seven points again. Our experts tipped up Liverpool to win and both teams to score at 7/4 with the best non UK casinos, so a great result for anyone who followed the recommendation.
The second game of the day came from the Tottenham Hotspurs Stadium where they hosted Man United, neither side have been in the best of form as of late. The homeside suffered two cup exits in the space of three days when they lost in the semi-final second leg to Liverpool 4-0 so that put a stop to a trip to Wembley for the EFL Cup Final.
They then had a 4th round FA Cup trip to Aston Villa, their home form had been especially good in the league this season only getting beat once so the trip was always going to be a challenge. Ange Postecoglou’s side found themselves 1-0 down after just one minute, there were no goals again till the 64th min when Morgan Rogers doubled the homesides lead.
Spurs did hit back but it wasn’t till the 91st minute so their cup dreams for this season were ended.
The visitors had a two point lead over Spurs in the table but it was the homeside that came away with maximum points and moved to 12th in the league. James Maddison scored from close range to make it 1-0, it was a pretty dull game after that with United only having two good chances on goal all day. Ruben Amorim kept the faith of his starting 11 till the 90th minute when he brought on Chido Obi-Martin for Casemiro.
Spurs have a trip to Ipswich next which is a winnable game with a bit of confidence from this game whilst United travel to Goodison Park to face in-form Everton. This season hasn’t been good enough for The Reds but their rebuilding won’t start till the summer. They are now as big as 6/1 with credit card gambling sites for a top 4 finish next season which keeps looking more and more unachievable.
We hoped you managed to find a few winners this weekend.
