As well as action from Newbury we have some good racing from Warwick which we will preview here. The first race we will look at is the Unibet Kingmaker Chase run over 2m.
Heading the entries is L’Eau du Sud for Dan Skelton, this exciting 7yo gelding won his debut over fences in a handicap at Stratford before winning a Grade 2 Novice Chase at Cheltenham and then more recently winning the Henry VIII Novice Grade 1 beating Touch Me Not impressively. The latter went on to chase Majborough home at the Dublin Festival last weekend so the form is rock solid.
This looks to be joint owner Alex Ferguson’s Arkle prospect after Chadwell Potter looks likely to go for other races.
Next in the entries is Rubaud trained by Paul Nicholls, this 7yo made his debut over fences at Kempton up against Sir Gino and Ballyburn but the gelding was beaten when falling at the final fence. He has some good hurdle form winning at Listed race at Kempton before taking the Grade 2 Elite Hurdle at Wincanton in November. He will need to brush up his jumping here but it’s too early to write him off as a Chaser. Due off at 2.05pm Live On ITV.

The second race we will look at Warwick is the Unibet Mares Hurdle which is a Listed race for Mares ran over 2m 5f. Heading the entries is Gala Marceau trained by Willie Mullins, this 6yo has been running against her own sex but yet to get a win. She was beaten favourite at Doncaster in a Grade 2 and also a Grade 3 at Punchestown but hasn’t been seen since coming 2nd to Lossiemouth in the Irish Mares Champion Hurdle at Punchestown in May beaten seven lengths. She will be popular with punters.
Next one we will look at is West Balboa trained by Dan Skelton, this 9yo had a brief try over fences but it didn’t work out so connections returned her to the smaller obstacles. She has looked tired the last twice over 3m so the drop back to 2m 5f looks to be the right option, she is clear on ratings and with Harry Skelton due to ride this looks to be a serious danger to the Irish runner.
Last one for us to look at is You Wear It Well trained by Jamie Snowden, this 8yo is another one who would be making the return to the smaller obstacles after having three runs over fences. She was a beaten favourite at this course in December. This five times hurdles winner will be taking a step back up in trip here but she will certainly be race fit having only ran three weeks ago. Due off at 2.40pm Live on ITV.
