With the top quality racing over the weekend there have been some shake ups in the Novice Hurdle Races markets for the Cheltenham Festival in March. Firstly we will start with the race opening the four day festive the Supreme Novice Hurdle, Willie Mullins did have the favourite in Salvator Mundi but it now looks like Kopek Des Bordes is his main runner to get his Cheltenham week off to a great start.
The latter couldn’t be more impressive when taking the Tattersalls Ireland Grade 1 over 2m at Leopardstown on Sunday, the 5yo took a keen hold but raced prominently before taking the lead at the 3rd last and going further clear and going easily winning the race by 13 lengths. That’s three out of three for this exciting gelding. However Kopek Des Bordes in particular looked a superstar and we highly recommend betting him to win the Supreme novice hurdle at Cheltenham, he is currently top priced at 6/4 with non UKGC casinos.
Salvator Mundi did back up his impressive maiden hurdle when taking a Grade 2 at Punchestown but his jumping was sketchy so that would need to brush up considerably in a fastly run Supreme. Workahead will be representing Henry De Bromhead for the opening race at Cheltenham, this 7yo gelding hasn’t stepped up to Graded races yet but his maiden race form does represent horses that have gone on to perform at the higher grade.
Betting for the Supreme Novice Hurdle (Ante Post Rules Apply):
Casinos Not on Gamban: Kopek Des Bordes 11/8, Salvator Mundi 11/2, Romeo Coolio 11/2, Workahead 11/1, The New Lion 10/1, Lulamba 12/1, Kawaboomga 12/1 and 20/1 Bar.
Credit Card Betting Sites UK: Kopek Des Bordes 11/8, Salvator Mundi 5/1, Romeo Coolio 11/2, Workahead 12/1, The New Lion 10/1, Lulamba 12/1, Kawaboomga 12/1 and 22/1 Bar.
Another market shake up was the Albert Bartlett Novice Hurdle over 3m, Final Demand trained by Mullins again won well when taking the Nathaniel Lacy & Partners Solicitors Novice Hurdle Grade 1 at the weekend. The 6yo was prominent throughout the 2m 6f contest before making smooth headway to take the lead approaching the last going on to win the contest by 12 lengths. We don’t know how good the gelding is as the race didn’t look very competitive but he is now at the head of the betting for the 3m race at Cheltenham and looks a relatively solid option, I would not put anyone off betting him at top price 7/2 with American betting sites for UK players.
The Yellow Clay looks to be the main challenger, this Gordon Elliott 6yo opted to miss the Dublin Racing Festival after taking a Grade 1 two and a half mile contest at Naas by 8 lengths. They both look out and out stayers so it will be a great contest up the Cheltenham hill.
Betting for Albert Bartlett Novice Hurdle: Final Demand 3/1, The Yellow Clay 6/1, The Big Westerner 8/1, Jet Blue 12/1, Wingman 16/1 and its 20/1 Bar. Ante Post Rules Apply.
