GamCare has released its first Money Guidance Service Review, which was made to help people that were impacted from financial issues resulting from problem gambling.

From the review the key findings are:

Background of the organisation

The service became nationwide in 2023 having firstly launched as a pilot the previous year. It is available to any person using the GamCare’s National Gambling Helpline with other treatment and support channels.

A report showed that 76% of the helpline callers said their biggest issue was finances on the back of gambling out of control.

Kathy Wade, Service Manager, said the nationwide service proves the team is helping people improve their life and recover from gambling-related debt with the added burden of the increase in living.

One participant said: “The Money Guidance Service has helped me feel more confident with money. I’m not as anxious anymore, and I don’t worry about how I’ll pay for essentials.”
