The UK has continued to tighten the regulation for affiliates and operators in the online casino and gambling market. This has seen endless further restrictions being enforced and many more to follow – in what is going to transform the industry in the coming years. But – while this has been taking place, they have also further relaxed ‘Land based gambling’ rules, which has come as some surprise to many across the industry.
It is a further kick in the teeth for the online UK gambling market and those invested will no doubt be pushing for further backlash against the endless changes and restrictions that are being enforced.
The latest report was released back in May, covering new loosening of rules on brick and mortar betting businesses in the UK, as the incredible expansion of online gambling continues. This included allowing cashless payments on gaming machines in places, such as casinos and bingo halls but also pushing the age limit for these machines to 18.
The UK’s Department for Culture, Media and Sport were quoted saying, ““Together we believe these measures will support the land-based gambling sector and modernise the current outdated restrictions, as well as helping to protect young people and supporting licensing authorities,” the government said in a statement quoted by Reuters”.
This in itself shows the battle for online operators in the industry in the UK and this is only going to get worse, which is further leading to the growth of the market outside of these regulations, with the Daily star at the forefront of this – with options found here.
